A simple problem hiding in plain sight.
Every restaurant in Australia ends the day the same way: with food they made that no one bought. Some of it gets sent home with staff. Some gets donated. Most ends up in the bin.
Meanwhile, every Australian household ends the year having spent thousands of dollars on food they never ate — and hundreds more on takeaway they could have got for half the price.
ResQBox Food is the simplest fix we could think of. A way for the food to find someone who'd actually eat it. A way for restaurants to get something back from a meal they already paid to make. A way for customers to discover great local kitchens without paying premium prices.
We're not the first to try. We're building to be the best at it for Australian conditions — lower commission for restaurants, more pricing freedom, hyper-local from day one, filters that respect every kind of eater.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Four ideas we won't compromise on.
Good food deserves a better ending than a bin.
Every meal a kitchen prepares with care represents hours of work, real ingredients, real energy. When it ends up in landfill, all of that is lost. We exist to make sure as little of it as possible does.
Restaurants should keep more of every dollar.
The major delivery apps take 25–35% of every order. We take 15%. The difference goes back into the businesses doing the actual work — paying staff, sourcing better ingredients, staying open another year.
Eating well shouldn't be a luxury.
Quality food from independent kitchens is a thing most people only have on weekends. We want it to be a Tuesday-night option for everyone — not a treat reserved for those who can afford full price.
Local first, always.
We're built for the suburb, not the city. The cafe two streets away. The Indian place near your office. The bakery you walk past every morning but never stop into. ResQBox is for the kitchens that already make your neighbourhood feel like home.
